When the snow finally ends And the spring breaks through We’ll load up the wagon, set the little one by our side. Take the gold into Telluride.
— Nitty Gritty Dirt Band

An eclectic blend of American Southwest and European style, Mountain Village is the ultimate mountain retreat for residents and visitors alike who want convenience, luxury and incredible scenery. Located mid-mountain on the south side of the ski area, the Town of Mountain Village overlooks some of the highest and most magnificent peaks in the San Juan Mountain Range. Founded in 1987, the design combines European-alpine architecture with the rustic traditions of the Rockies.

This year-round alpine resort, incorporated in 1995, has its own post office, town hall and police department. What makes it unique, however, is that all of this exists at 9,500 feet. Here amidst the aspen and elk herds you'll also find some of the most luxurious accommodations in the West.

Getting to Mountain Village is half the fun. A three-stage gondola provides a fast and free commute with glorious vistas 275 days of the year. The only transportation system of its kind in North America, the gondola whisks passengers between Telluride and Mountain Village in 13 minutes, displacing the need for automobile transportation between the two towns. In Mountain Village, park your car at the Station Village Parking and take the scenic three-minute ride into the pedestrian-oriented village core.

The 92-acre Mountain Village core is a center of recreational and social activity. The 18-hole golf course has its first tee at a stunning 9,300 feet (your drives are sure to go farther in the rare air on the Telluride Ski and Golf Company's championship course).

In the pedestrian core, restaurants, banks, a market and shops featuring home furnishings, antiques, jewelry, gifts, apparel and more are open throughout the year. Here you'll also find bronze statues commemorating the Utes, the miners and the skiers who share the history of the area. A 20,000-square-foot conference/meeting facility provides a venue for cultural and corporate events and gatherings, and the Mountain Village Activity Center, located below the gondola station, offers activities all summer long, including hiking, biking and children's programs. Also popular is the Sunset Concert Series, held throughout the summer. This free event features a variety of music in Mountain Village's Town Square.

A unique town that has blossomed overnight, Mountain Village has grown into a world-class resort deserving of its awe-inspiring setting.
