Last spring by a vote of 6 - 1, the Colorado Supreme Court upheld the Town of Telluride's right to condemn land outside its borders for Open Space purposes. The 572 acres adjacent to the west boundary of the town, commonly known as the Valley Floor, is now the property of Telluride. After a lengthy Request For Qualifications process, the town selected Ecological Resource Consultants (ERC) of Evergreen, CO to study all of the aspects of the Valley Floor and prepare an Environmental Report. When this report is complete the town will develop its official management plan for the parcel, covering both permitted uses and required protections. A large herd of elk has taken up residence on the Valley Floor, much to the delight of all us locals and the visitors driving the Spur into Town.
Add Comment The Telluride Ski Resort is thrilled to announce the opening of spectacular Revelation Bowl for the 2008-09 winter season. This European-style terrain, located directly off the back side of famous Gold Hill and Chair 14, will be served by a new, locally manufactured Leitner-Poma quad-lift. Situated above tree line, the natural, wide-open bowl offers advanced and expert skiing in an unbelievably scenic setting.
Revelation Bowl, located on a northeastern aspect that naturally gathers huge amounts of snow from the resort’s predominant westerly storms, has long been the envy of those standing atop Gold Hill. From the top of the new Revelation lift, skiers and riders will be able to choose ridgelines in either direction, offering steeper pitches and rock features on the far sides of the powder bowl. The center touts an expanse of rolling, advanced terrain with a groomed path for cruising. The leaves were at their peak and the area was blessed with some recent snows - both conditions making for terrific photo opportunities (like the one above). Aldasoro Ranch holds a unique position in the Telluride real estate world. It is a low-density subdivision 4 miles outside of town. It is generally bathed in Colorado sunshine and it affords unrivaled views to the south of Wilson Peak, Sunshine Mountain and the Illium Valley. Today, Aldasoro is approximately 40% built out, and within that build-out are many award winning designs and architectural marvels. Aldasoro is one of my favorite places to work and spend time in the entire Telluride region. I am working on placing a daily update of the New York Times Crossword. This site will then be not only your source for matters relevant to the Telluride market, but for real mental calisthenics as well. Watch for the crossword updates soon. |
