After several batches of cement did not cut the mustard, the contractors finally got it right and our runway was just poured.  There is an FAA test flight scheduled for next week.  If all goes well the airport will re-open for service in early November.

Just got word from our airport manager that as of this afternoon we are going into full paving production for the runway. We are scheduled to have the paving and striping completed by Sept. 22, 2009 for the FAA flight check. We are still on schedule to open on Nov. 4th, 2009 and remain open throughout the entire winter season.

The airport will close again for a few months in 2010 to complete the work necessary to increase the airfield's classification.  When complete, a 75-seat Q400 aircraft will be able to land at the Telluride airport, opening the possibility of direct f
