The fine residents of Mountain Village, Telluride's sister town and the heart of the Telluride Ski Resort, have been floating the idea constructing a new amphitheater to host concerts in the summer months.  The plan is to terrace the bottom of the Misty Maiden ski trail just above town to accommodate up to 8,000 people.  No permanent structures will be built and the terraced slope will not impact the ski trail in the winter, as sno-cats and snow making will create a smooth pitch, like always.  There are some grumblings from neighbors, but other than that, the majority of people in the area feel it is a great idea.  Hosting concerts and creating a summer-time draw is what helped Snowmass VIllage above Aspen finally shed its disparaging nickname of "Slowmass" and become the year-round resort it is today.  I say - "Build it!!"  The file attached below is a mock-up of the proposed venue.

I regularly update my Market Info page with what I deem the Top 5 Deals among varying property categories in the Telluride market.  Homes and condos, vacant land and commercial, in-town properties versus those outside of Town on the mesas.  Click here to read more, and stop back often to see updates I have made.  There are many attractive deals out there right now and I expect their number to rise slightly this summer.  But due to an owner/seller set characterized by affluent and astute investors, as well as an absence of speculation and over-leveraging, these deals should be pursued while they still exist.

A bold step for feminism
Tellurider invents women-only toilet

In the history of the world, there have been a few

inventions that changed the way we live. The printing
press. The light bulb. Two-ply.

Tellurider ChrisChristian had just such an idea at the
2004 Blues and Brews Festival. He looked out at the
sea of people going in and out of the port-a-potties.
Nowhere else in the world, he realized, do men and
women use the same bathrooms.

Five years later, here is the solution: the PortaJane,

sitting in the middle of main street. Jazz Fest is the
virtual debut of what its inventor calls the first
portable toilet for women only.

People, such as Kaja Reynolds, stop and take

pictures. Women poke their heads in the door.
Even men want to take a look...

Barron's Magazine cover story this month focuses on the second-home market and its behavior relative to the overall real estate market.  Telluride and its recent corrections in real estate values are mentioned prominently.  Enjoy!
